Regional Manager: Environmental Resource Management City of Cape Town, South Africa Growing up in Mpumalanga, Bushbuckridge; Bongani Mnisi is a qualified Executive Business Coach. He is a Regional Manager in the Environmental Resource Management Department, City of Cape Town where he manages the largest part of the City’s Biodiversity Network including four Nature Reserves. He is responsible for the development of strategic and operational management plans for the region; he also manages the stakeholder relationships both external and internal to enforce a participative approach towards conservation management. Mr Mnisi also coordinates the performance management and leads the mentorship programme for the branch as part of his interest in Human Capital Development. He currently serves as a Deputy Chairperson of the Board of the Breede-Gouritz Catchment Management Agency. He also serves as a committee member of the Fynbos Forum and the Botanical Society of South Africa (Cape Town Branch). Mr Mnisi is currently completing his MSc in Botany at the University of Stellenbosch (US). He received a Bachelor of Technology in Nature Conservation from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) and a Bachelor of Philosophy (Hons) in Sustainable Development: Development Planning and Management (US). He also completed various certificates in Coaching (US), Project Management (CPUT), Community-based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) (Rhodes University) and Conservation Stewardship and Extension (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University). In 2012, Mr Mnisi travelled to Los Angeles, California to attend The Mediterranean City: A Conference on Climate Change Adaptation, which took place in June 2012. The conference was hosted by the Council for Watershed. He was representing Cape Town and presented on “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Management in the City of Cape Town” under the “Biodiversity and open space: Ecological City”, and was asked to serve on the panel of experts, looking at Biodiversity’s contribution towards Social Health.
