I am a social researcher, environmental scientist and composer/sound artist. I design experiences to inspire and connect people with the natural world. My PhD research is exploring how participatory design with children can be used to digital tools that support children’s play in urban green space. In 2016, I was awarded an Endeavour Scholarship and spent 12 months with the Children’s Environments Research Group in New York City devising methods to enable children to evaluate their experiences of their urban neighbourhoods. I am a British Council Elevate Fellow and has co-produced a number of designs for nature-play in cities with other fellows internationally, one of which was recently awarded second place in the UNICEF Inclusive Play Space Design Ideas Competition. I have designed interactive sound exhibits that critique the human-nature relationship in cities, including Aural Fixations (UrbanIxD, Split; City Data Future, Venice); and Flotsam and Jetsam (Hijinks Festival and UTS Hothouse Waterways Exhibition, Sydney), and Dawn (NIME, London). I hold a B. Environmental Science (Hons) from the University of New South Wales and worked in marine research, environmental communication and education for 10 years before commencing her PhD.
