Associate Professor, Universidad de Concepción. Geography Department, Faculty of Architecture, Urbanism, and Geography. Center of Urban Sustainable Development CEDEUS. Chilean academic, with expertise in spatial analysis with GIS in urban growth, sustainable cities, landscape ecology, and mobility. I am particularly interested in understanding how the urban growth and transport systems affect the provision and the accessibility to open spaces such as wetlands and parks in cities. I am interested in linking science with the community to resolve urban sustainable issues. I am an Associate Researcher at CEDEUS, www.cedeus.cl) and actively participate in urban planning local initiatives. I have been a consultant and speaker at several community seminars, and government instances, usually on topics related to conflicts between urban expansion, ecology, transport, mobility and socio-environment development. My current research is focused on the conflict among urbanization, wetlands, transport infrastructure and households in the Concepción Metropolitan Area (see www.urbancost.cl).
