Celestine Collins is the Director of Education, City of Kisumu (Kenya). She holds a Master of Education Degree. She is currently acting as the Assistant City Manager as an additional responsibility and the Focal Point for Disaster Risk Reduction with the United Nations for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). She assists the city manager in directing a variety of administrative processes that allow the city to operate which includes implementing and overseeing policies crafted by the city as per the Urban Areas and Cities Act. She helps maintain city staff by selecting, orienting, and training employees. She also maintains city staff job results by coaching, counselling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results. She works with schools within the city on infrastructure development and improvement as well as capacity building through training programmes on cross-cutting issues that affect children and institutions.
