Xin Yu (aka Fish) is Shenzhen Conservation Director and Youth Engagement Director of The Nature Conservancy China Program. He oversees TNC’s first City project in Shenzhen, China since 2017 focusing on Sponge City, a new and largest national urban development pilot for applying green infrastructure to enhance city resilience from extreme weather. He leads implementing several pilot projects in various categories such office building, residential area, school campus and factory, some of them become well-recognized as of Sponge City public participation demo and used for government policy work. Fish is also directing Youth Engagement work for TNC in China with a strategy of training educators and volunteers to work with schools and communities while developing innovative E-STEAM curriculum themed in real world issues such as urban water and biodiversity. He received a MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development from University College London.
