Heather McMillen is the Urban & Community Forester with the Hawaiʻi Department of Land & Natural Resources. She is also an affiliate faculty member of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Her interdisciplinary research explores the role of natural resources as cultural resources, the interactions between environmental and human health, and collaborative resource management. She has worked in Tanzania, Hawaiʻi, Fiji, and New York City. Heather holds a PhD in Anthropology, and a certificate in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She is also a certified arborist. Heather lives on Oʻahu in the foothills of Lēʻahi with her son.
