Dr. Jana Söderlund recently completed a PhD which framed biophilic design as an emergent social movement. This was based on global research after spending 3 months in the U.S. and Canada researching biophilic design initiatives and policies in 10 frontrunner cities and interviewing over 30 leaders in government, industry, NGOs, corporate and civic arenas. The research was combined with local projects, such as trial living walls in Fremantle.
Jana has an honours degree in environmental science plus a Grad. Cert. in Sustainability and Climate Policy and has spent her career being active as a sustainability consultant, environmental educator, tutor, lecturer, and presenter. She has also been active in community arts and performance. Currently she is a Director of Green Roofs Australasia, Director of Design by Nature, and an Adjunct Research Fellow at Curtin University.
