Jean-Marie Cishahayo has around 20 years of studies and professional work in International development and lived in 4 continents: Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America. He has passion in capacity building in sustainable development, climate change, smart and green cities, local economic development, Resilient Monitoring and evaluation, Climate change . He is the Founding member of the International Conference on Canadian, Chinese and African Sustainable Urbanization (ICCCASU), a joint project between United Nations Human Settlements and the University of Ottawa. He also founded the GUKATES Academy- Global Urban Assets, Knowledge and Technologies Exchange Services, an innovative action for green cities. For more than 5 years, is Research Affiliate at the Centre on Governance of the University of Ottawa. Over the last two decades, he had been working closely, consulting, speaker, training and advising local development projects for several United Nations development agencies such (UNDP, ILO, UNITAR, World Bank, WIPO, UNIDO, UN-Habitat), NGOs, universities, private sector, local municipalities, and green industries. He has the World Bank Certifications in Greentech: Mainstreaming Technologies in green, Blue and clean operations, and another one on Climate and Disaster Risk Screening: identifying Risk to enhance Resilience. He has contributed to several report papers and publications. He is fluent in French, English, Chinese and Swahili.
