Jonathan Halfon is a Community Planning and Capacity Building Coordinator based at FEMA Region 2 in New York City, where he works as part of the Recovery Interagency Coordination team. His work at FEMA has primarily focused on integrating nature-based systems and Smart Growth concepts into local long-term recovery and resilience planning. Prior to joining FEMA, Jonathan worked in the Comprehensive Planning Division of the Nassau County, New York Planning Commission, where he focused on downtown revitalization and open space preservation. He has studied Political Science at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and City and Regional Planning at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He is the recipient, with EPA staff, of the 2016 Presidential GreenGov Resilient Role Model Award for innovation during Hurricane Sandy Recovery.
