Kassia Rudd

Kassia Rudd joined ICLEI in March 2022 and plays a leading role in communicating ICLEI’s work on nature-based solutions. Kassia leads strategic communication for multiple EU projects committed to furthering sustainability and justice via urban greening, leveraging her professional and academic experience in public health, community outreach, sustainable agriculture, and restoration ecology to render project results accessible, engaging, and meaningful to a broad audience. Kassia is especially interested in work that allows her to partner directly with cities and researchers to creatively illustrate the NbS work being done in cities and by academic institutions. In her previous role as a science educator, she regularly taught community members of all ages about gardening for soil health and local pollinators, and co-authored two papers on the impact of garden education on diet.
She holds a B.A. in Environmental Geoscience and German Studies from Smith College in Northampton, MA, USA; a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction (Science) from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, USA; and a M.Sc. in the Geography of Global Change from the University of Freiburg in Freiburg, Germany.
