Katharina’s passion revolves around questions on how societal change towards a sustainable and resilient society can be realised and supported through governance, innovation and research. Her background is in political sciences, cultural studies, environmental science and governance with a PhD in Social Sciences from Erasmus University titled “Transforming urban climate governance: capacities for transformative climate governance ”. Her research areas include: – Capacities for transformation governance in cities in the Global North and South – Climate and water governance at global, national and local levels – Actors and actor roles in co-creation of long-term change processes – Inter- and transdisciplinary transformation research and knowledge co-production Katharina has been involved in various research projects, including EU-funded projects such as IMPRESSIONS , MUSIC and SUSTAIN that applied transition management for supporting national, regional and local transformation processes towards sustainability and resilience. She has also engaged in policy advice for the German Environmental Agency, for example through the projects From niche to mainstream and TRAFIS .
