Martina Artmann is researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development. She takes an interdisciplinary approach to study cities as socio-ecological systems and its potentials to contribute to sustainable development. In this regard, she is researching edible cities and urban food production as a systemic approach for sustainability transformation. Aiming at moving beyond the human-nature dichotomy, her Leibniz-Junior Research Group URBNANCE (Urban human-nature resonance for sustainability transformation) conceptualizes and tests responsive urban human-nature connections taking into account various relational discourses (i.e., resonance, indigenous knowledge, ecopsychology, deep ecology). In this regard, she also develops and tests together with her sister Katharina embodied, mindfulness and transpersonal practices that can strengthen our relational capacities to connect with our inner and outer nature in an accelerating world.
