Mike Wells an ecological consultant ecologist and ecourbanist with a global outlook and portfolio. Co-founder of Biodiversity by Design, he is also Research Fellow in Green Infrastructure design at the University of Bath school of Architecture and Civil Engineering, UK. Key interests now lie in finding new opportunities for biodiversity enhancement, and for the promotion of sustainable ecosystem goods and services. Mike is an expert in wetland creation, restoration and management, and is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager and a registered consultant with the UK River Restoration Centre. He has contributed to the ecological design of river and other wetland restorations in urban and rural areas in the UK, mainland Europe and SE Asia. He was lead author of Estuary Edges, the UK Environment Agency’s Guide to the ecological design of tidal rivers and ecological design advisor in the development of Water Sensitive Urban Design Guidance for Singapore.
