Mutizwa completed his PhD in Environmental Education in association with the Murray & Roberts Chair of Environmental Education at Rhodes University in 2010. Working with cultural historical activity theory, Mutizwa pioneered expansive learning approaches in environmental education and sustainable agriculture. Mutizwa works on various regional projects related to sustainable agriculture in the southern African region. He periodically collaborates with the Environmental Learning Research Centre on educational projects related to natural resources management and social learning.
