Nora Almeida is an urban swimmer, writer, performance artist, librarian, and environmental activist. She’s an Associate Professor in the Library Department at City Tech and a long-time volunteer at Interference Archive. She has organized media-making workshops, public events, and street performances across NYC. She is a 2021-2022 Social Practice CUNY faculty fellow for which she created the site-specific project “The Last Street End” series in Gowanus and a 2022 Water Connector with the Works on Water program. Nora recently co-curated the exhibition “Our Streets! Our City! Self-determination and Public Space in NYC” which was on view at Interference Archive from May-August 2022. Her book, The Social Movement Archive, co-authored with the archivist and educator Jen Hoyer, was published in July 2021 by Litwin Books.
