Geelong

Phil Roös is known internationally for his leading work in environmental design on large scale infrastructure projects. He is an ecological systems-inspired architect, designer, planner, and strategist for regenerative architecture, sustainable developments, infrastructure, and landscapes. Phillip holds positions in both academic and professional practice. He brings his passion to his teaching and research as Senior Lecturer in Architecture (Environmental Design) at Deakin University. He has been working as a design professional for nearly 30 years on an extensive range of large-scale projects in Europe, Africa, and Australasia. His research interests are centred on the human-nature relationship (biophilia) and the identification of optimised design processes based on a regenerative-adaptive design and pattern language theory. This incorporates the principles of regenerative design as well as an adaptive pattern language that re-establishes our wholeness with nature, and considers the vulnerabilities of a changing landscape.
