Rodrigo works with the relations between energy and environment issues, through the topics sustainability, water-energy-food nexus, environmental and energy technologies and policies. Rodrigo’s education includes an B.Sc in Ecology from UFRN (Brazil) and an M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from UNESP (São Paulo, Brazil). He has conducted water-energy-food nexus research during his Ph.D. in Energy Planning at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (COPPE-UFRJ). After a year as a visiting researcher at the Centre for Energy Policy (Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology – UTS, Australia), he was invited to pursue a doctorate in Energy Policy at CEP, concluding his research in 2020. Rodrigo is currently a post-doctoral researcher at Fundação Getúlio Vargas´ School of Business Administration in São Paulo (FGV-EAESP), where he works with the theme urban green-blue infrastructure within the project “Understanding Innovative Initiatives for Governing Food, Water and Energy Nexus in Cities”. He served as visiting researcher at Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, studying the effects of urban green-blue infrastructure on food-water-energy nexus in cities under supervision of Prof. Karen Seto. Rodrigo’s expertise includes waste-to-energy applications, solid urban and agro-industrial waste management, landfill design and management, soil and groundwater contamination, impacts of alternative sources of energy, biomass, biofuels, sustainability, urban development, nature-based solutions and climate change.
