Scott is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Toronto, Scarborough, in Canada, where he studies phylogenetic ecology and its application in urban planning and design. Scott is especially interested in how plant-pollinator networks can facilitate understanding of underlying mechanisms in urban ecology to inform all realms of urbanization, from construction phasing to place-making. In his Ph.D., Scott examined patterns in urban bee and wasp diversity using a 200-member citizen science collective and many hundreds of bee hotels. Scott is also a founding member and researcher at the Green Roof Innovation Testing lab
(www.grit.daniels.utoronto.ca), where he studies green roof ecology and its implications in building cooling and stormwater management. Scott’s work on urban biodiversity and ecological design has resulted in over 20 research publications, book chapters, two art installations, and several completed green infrastructure projects in collaboration with landscape architects.
