Dr. Shaleen Singhal is a Professor at TERI School of Advanced Studies with 21 years of research and academic experience working on sustainable urban development issues in India and UK. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK and recipient of Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship 2017-18 for Yale University, US. He had worked as faculty at the School of the Built Environment, University of Ulster, UK. He is an architect planner with PhD on City Competitiveness that received the Global 2009 Emerald/EFMD outstanding doctoral research award. His research work and publications lay emphasis on sustainable redevelopment, ecology based urban planning, infrastructure performance and effective governance for cities in emerging economies as India. His PhD students adopt an inter-disciplinary approach to examine challenges and solutions for liveable cities. Dr Singhal has pioneered in structuring first-of-its-kind M Tech programme on Urban Development and Management in India; and the first masters’ course on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). He had been the Principle Investigator of UNEP-EU funded Switch Asia Initiative focusing on SCP. He is a member of the Global Urban Competitiveness Project Council.
