Weston is as a policy and research consultant working on the social dimensions of urban natural resources. He currently chairs the City of Seattle’s Urban Forestry Commission and holds adjunct teaching positions at Seattle University, the University of Washington, and Antioch University, Seattle. In addition, he is the lead for the Urban Waters Federal Partnership for the Green-Duwamish Watershed, coordinating stakeholder participation in federal watershed restoration. Weston has extensive policy, planning, and research experience in the urban forestry and natural resource fields. He has worked with natural resource managers, urban forest scientists, policy makers, planners, and a range of communities to develop a better understanding of the natural world in our cities. Weston’s experience in natural area management includes studying volunteer motivations and satisfactions, guiding forest assessments, developing creative funding mechanisms, building collaborative messaging, and directing policy development.
